Overview
This is a day of trail stewardship and fun by and for members of the LGBTQ+ community.
If you've ever been curious about trail work but have been shy about giving it a chance (OR if you're a total trail work professional, either way), this Pride event is for you! Spend the morning working and learning with other queer folks--then everyone is invited to an afternoon party, including the folks on our sister Pride work party across the river with Trail Keepers of Oregon.
About the Area
The Blandford Drive Greenway is a forested oasis in the urban landscape. There are currently two trails there, one that parallels Blandford Dr. and another linking South Cliff and DuBois Parks. The long term vision for this area is to restore the native plant community and enhance the trails to make them more accessible to families who enjoy the adjacent parks but also want to explore the natural world.
What to Expect
We'll have fun, work hard and make a difference!
Project Description
Last year, crews led by your amazing crew leader Dawn built a new trail reroute here. This year, we return to maintain it. Expect to cut vegetation off the trail, use digging tools to maintain the walking surface, and even plant some native plants in areas to better make the old trail disappear.
Hiking Information
The hike to the project site is no more than 1/4 mile. There are a couple of short, steep slippery areas.
Schedule
8:55 AM: Be ready to meet the crew, rain or shine (please make sure you've signed your digital waiver the the day or night before)
9:00 AM: Gather for a safety briefing, then hike to the project site
Morning: Work at your own pace, and take breaks throughout the day
1:00 PM: Consider joining us for the Pride afterparty with prizes, food, and good fun!
For safety reasons, arriving late or leaving early is not allowed.
