Get a sneak preview of the changes at the refuge while hiking 1.5 miles on the new trail and plant native trees where Gibbons Creek connects to the Columbia River. Let's make the final phase of this much-anticipated project a success by planting native trees and shrubs that benefit fish and wildlife. *Note: this is a 4 hour event, with 3 miles of walking on a flat surface.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited. All ages and abilities are welcome!
A registration form must be completed for each volunteer.
Parents: please fill out a form for each child/dependent. Students ages 16 or older can volunteer without an adult present.
Accessibility: The planting site is a 1.5 mile walk each way on a compacted natural surface with one 40 foot elevation change. The terrain in the planting area is loose soil and rock along the new Gibbons Creek channel. The area may be muddy and require rubber boots. There are rubber boots to borrow upon request.
What to bring: Face covering or mask and a water bottle.
What we provide: sanitized planting gloves, shovels, extra masks, snacks and warm beverages.
What to wear: Long sleeves, pants, rain gear and sturdy shoes or boots are recommended.
Before the event: You will receive an email with the parking location and additional details.
At the event: Estuary Partnership staff will share project goals and demonstrate planting techniques. We will review COVID guidelines to ensure safe planting, distribute tools and organize volunteers into small, dispersed groups.

Estuary Partnership staff are closely following the CDC’s COVID guidelines and will alert all registered guests to any event changes, including cancellation.
