LCNN partners offer courses to help teachers take learning outside
The Lower Columbia Nature Network’s goal is to reduce barriers so all can access nature. Schools can be a great place where students get outside and explore on their own school grounds. Schools vary widely in their outdoor offerings. Some schools may have raised garden beds and an outdoor classroom, where others may just have grassy fields. Whatever your school grounds has to offer, we want to equip teachers to feel comfortable taking the classroom outside.
In January and February LCNN has coordinated a three session series, Taking Learning Outside: Making the Most of Your School's Outdoor Learning Spaces. In collaboration with the ESD 112, Lower Columbia School Gardens, Master Gardener Program at Washington State University Extension, we’ve pulled together a learning experience that will give teachers confidence and equip them with the tools to get kids outside to enjoy the benefits of nature, in addition to their subject matter.
Educators can earn 6 STEM clock hours for their participation. Space is limited so register soon.
